sometimes food wins

the revenge of the surströmming

it's so stinky,
that the can is opened outdoors
and the offending liquid is disposed of away from the house
(and hopefully not too close to the neighbor's)
then the fillets are rinsed and eaten with crackers, a bit of sour cream (we had greek yogurt), a slice of potato, a piece of onion and...
ice cold vodka
(or aquavit but we had drunk all that the the day before with the new catch holland herring
which has a taste on the opposite end of the scale.)

why is this fish in my studio?
sad but try
i detest the lighting in my kitchen for photos
this is actually a huge problem for me
since i so often want to take pictures of food
no one was very happy when i spirited this mackerel away
to shoot it
when i was supposed to be preparing it...
