meta-morph

in the studiofor the past month
my focus has been decidedly virtual
basically my only physical study activity has been my daily watercolors
this is the project that i have been working on

today i knit a hat

in the studioso, no
not really
tho i wish i could have
but
(it seems)
that i like to play games
or
am fascinated with
(something i have never considered myself good at...)
collaboration
this is in response to an @platea project
(if you've been following me for a while, you know what i am talking about)
it's a knitting project
and i don't knit
well
i have
but that's another story
but i do play
and so this is my hat
that i "knit" from @InnyM's tweets
looking forward to completing more #plateaknit projects
even as i am TOTALLY preoccupied with the last week of ArtDialogue

bestnonbuy

in the studiodocumentation of another twitter project
this one by @manbartlett
titled: #BestNonBuy

i went by best buy tonight
and with the help of this clue
found him
#bestnonbuy on Twitpic
when i confirmed i wouldn't be buying anything either
i received the documentation above
which is 8/10 of a signed edition

we had a talk about technology & social media in one's work
and for me, manbartlett is successfully using twitter to engage an audience
in a process;
reading the twitter feed, one is drawn into the piece,
one experiences excitement, empathy, compassion
and gains an understanding of how someone else sees a world
that many of us inhabit without giving it a second thought.
for me,
the creation of a space
(be it 2 or 3 dimensional, physical or virtual)
where others can access a new experience
in an engaging and transformative way
is art.

upside down

in the studioso as i tweeted today
everything in the studio went upside down
that resulted in a loss of...
preciousness?
equilibrium?
patience!
and there were ome major shifts

and then there is oski
who seems so content here
with his head in my watercolor water

but who spends the whole day
watching for intruding cats
which means
i spend my whole day
watching for his attempt at scaling the backyard fence
(he succeeds occasionally despite my elaborate attempts at containing him)

fp20

on the streettoday was largely given over to this project
i'm kind of exhausted,
it was a lot of post production
